Tom Heuer

In August 2011 Tom Heuer joined Miami University as the Richard A. Forsythe Chair of Entrepreneurship at the Farmer School of Business.

Prior, Tom was Senior Vice President, Managing Director for Strategic Planning and Innovation at Fifth Third Bank, where he was responsible for design and implementation of the corporate strategic plan.  He also helped identify growth opportunities in product development, technology and channel distribution.

Prior to joining Fifth Third, Mr. Heuer was a founding and managing partner of International Leadership Associates (ILA), a leadership education and consulting firm.  Tom’s practice at ILA reflected his research interests: leadership and strategic planning consultation, executive coaching, senior team development and facilitating leadership seminars. Tom’s clients included JP Morgan Chase, Huntington Bancshares, M&T Bancorp, Fifth Third Bank, LensCrafters, The Kroger Company, Lexis Nexis, Motorola, Proctor & Gamble, Merrill Lynch, 3M and Microsoft.

Tom is a frequent writer on the topic of strategic leadership and is known as one of the foremost experts on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders Model and the Leadership Practices Inventory.  His new research looks at developmental experiences and needs at different career/life stages.
